Council is seeking your feedback on a Planning Proposal to amend the Burwood Local Environmental Plan (BLEP) 2012 to facilitate the group heritage listing of properties in the Appian Way Heritage Conservation Area.
The Planning Proposal and supporting documentation will be on public exhibition from Monday 23 January 2023 to Friday 24 February 2023. A copy of the Planning Proposal and associated information is available in the Document Library and on the NSW Planning Portal.
If you have something to say about any aspect of the Planning Proposal we encourage you to make a submission. All submissions must be in writing and must be received by 24 February 2023. Please quote file number F22/762 and include in the subject line: “Submission – Group heritage listing of Appian Way”

Background
Council in November 2022 submitted a Planning Proposal for Gateway Determination to the Department of Planning & Environment to group heritage list properties in the Appian Way Heritage Conservation Area.
Gateway Determination was receveived 23 December 2022.
The group heritage listing necessitates a change to Schedule 5 of Burwood Local Environmental Plan 2012.
The inclusion of the properties as a group listing would give greater strength to the preservation of the dwellings and integrity of the precinct.
Council is also looking to nominate the Appian Way Conservation Area for a State Heritage Listing
