Life Cycle

Burwood Council has commissioned Barkindji artist Maddison Gibbs and Biripi artist Jason Wing, known collectively as MadWings, to co-create a series of public artworks throughout Wangal park. Inspired by the cyclical pathway inside the park, Gibbs and Wing's artwork references the six Aboriginal seasons through changing images of native flora and fauna. Life Cycle will be designs to take park users on a journey through time as they watch the season change throughout the park.

The works include the following:

  • Artworks for two new gateway signs
  • A series of painted floor murals throughout the park pathways
  • Vinyl wrapped artworks for the 11 light poles which line the central park pathway
  • Painted floor murals on the skatepark and sides of equipment
