Burwood2036, our Community Strategic Plan (CSP) is shaped by the shared vision, aspirations and values of our community.
The CSP guides long-term planning for the future of the Burwood Local Government Area (LGA) and outlines the strategies we will use to achieve our goals. Burwood Council invites you to participate in the review of our CSP and contribute to building a shared vision for the future of the Burwood LGA.
Underpinned by engagement
Burwood2036 was shaped by the contributions of people who participated in Council’s community engagement activities in 2021 and early 2022. Participants came from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, across all age groups, and parts of the Burwood LGA. Thanks to their ideas and aspirations, this Plan was made possible. With over 1,000 people involved, the process was thorough and inclusive. Now, we’re engaging with our community to ensure the Plan still aligns with what matters most to you.
Why are we reviewing the CSP?
All councils in NSW are required by legislation to develop a Community Strategic Plan (CSP) that identifies the priorities and aspirations of their community over a minimum 10-year period. Following each ordinary Local Government election, councils must review their CSP to ensure it remains aligned with the community's vision and continues to provide a long-term outlook.
The Local Government Elections held in September 2024 triggered a statutory review of Burwood 2036. This review ensures that the Plan reflects the current and future needs of our community and incorporates emerging priorities and opportunities.
We’re committed to working closely with our newly elected Councillors, community members, and key stakeholders to update Burwood 2036.
