13 AUGUST 2024 - LOCAL INFRASTRUCTURE CONTRIBUTIONS PLAN 2024 ADOPTED

Council, at its meeting on 25 June 2024 resolved to exhibit a draft Local Infrastructure Contributions Plan 2024 for the Burwood Local Government Area (LGA). Once the draft plan becomes effective it will replace the existing Section 7.12 Contributions Plan.

The proposed updates to the draft Plan include the following:

  • Introduction of an administration component to allow Council to collect and spend funds on administration activities associated with the management and updates of the plan
  • A provision to index the cost of the works program to reflect CPI increases
  • Introduction of an alternate s7.11 approach rather than the 1% levy under s7.12 for those developments which increase the development potential of the land (outside of the Burwood Town Centre).

No changes are proposed to the current framework under the current s7.12 plan in relation to:

  • The Burwood Town Centre and the 4% levy
  • Alterations and additions to dwellings
  • The construction of new single dwellings or secondary dwellings.

The draft Plan provides an updated Schedule of Works. The updated Schedule of Works has been compiled based on those in the existing plans, and has been consolidated and updated as follows:

  • Amendments to the population Deletion of works that have been completed or no longer required
  • Adjustment of priorities and the timing for the delivery of works
  • Inclusion of administration activities.

The draft Burwood Local Infrastructure Contributions Plan was exhibited from Thursday 27 June 2024 to Wednesday 24 July 2024.

The Local Infrastructure Contributions Plan was considered by Council at its meeting on Tuesday 13 August 2024, where Council resolved to adopt the Plan.
