The Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) for 17 Deane Street, Burwood (Lot 1, DP1215989) has been submitted in conjunction with Development Application DA.2021.127 which proposes a mixed-use development including retail premises, commercial offices and 41 residential apartments.

The VPA offers a financial contribution to Council as a public benefit as part of the application which is seeking approval for additional gross floor space of 690.6 m2 of residential floor space above what the Burwood LEP 2012 would normally allow.

The planning provision enabling a monetary contribution for additional development in the form of FSR is contained within the Council Policy – Carrying out Bonus Development in the Public Interest, a publicly exhibited document which was initially adopted by Council on 1 September 2018. The monetary contribution is collected for the purposes of providing, augmenting or improving open space, community facilities or other public facilities as determined by Council in accordance with the Burwood Open Space and Community Facilities Study undertaken for Council. A copy of the document is available on Council’s website: https://www.burwood.nsw.gov.au/Planning-Building/Development-Contributions-Voluntary-Planning-Agreements

The VPA and Explanatory Note are on exhibition from Wednesday 13 July – Friday 12 August 2022.
