Council is inviting community feedback on the Draft Economic Development Discussion Paper and Night Time Economy Strategy.

Over the past decade, Burwood has experienced substantial growth in the residential, commercial and employment sectors, benefitting from its strategic location between the two CBDs of Sydney and Parramatta. As a result, Burwood has cultivated a vibrant and multicultural night time economy that is out-competing other centres across Sydney.

The Draft Burwood After Dark Strategy sets a long-term vision and a cohesive roadmap for Burwood’s night-time economy. Focused on Burwood (referring to Burwood Town Centre and Burwood North area), this Strategy seeks to make the area a more vibrant place with a diverse range of cultural activities, events and entertainment after dark.

This strategy has been informed by the preparation of the Draft Burwood Economic Development Discussion Paper, and extensive community consultation with local residents, businesses and key private and government stakeholders. The implementation of a vibrant, diverse and safe night-time economy in Burwood is contingent on a successful After Dark Strategy. This Strategy explores how this vision can be achieved through four focus areas – Place, Connection, Experience and Destination.

If you have feedback about any aspect of the Draft Economic Development Discussion Paper and Night Time Economy Strategy we encourage you to make a submission by Wednesday 6 September 2023.
