Here's your chance to have a say on how Councillors, Council staff and others working with Council should be guided in how they conduct themselves when carrying out those roles. This includes general conduct, as well as obligations to identify and manage conflicts of interest.

Background

All councils are required to adopt a Code of Conduct based on the Model Code issued by the Office of Local Government. At Burwood Council, we have three separate Codes - all based on the Model - that are tailored to the following groups:

  • Councillors
  • Council Staff
  • Committee Members, Delegates of Council, Council Advisers, Volunteers, Contractors and Members of Wholly Advisory Committees

Council is required to review and adopt a new Code within 12 months of any local government election. The Codes have been reviewed, resulting in only minor changes. Council has also reviewed the procedures for administering those Codes of Conduct and is not proposing any major changes.
